Enrollment requirements for postgraduate diplomas
Aswan University, based on the proposal of the Council of Faculty of Science, grants a postgraduate diploma in one of the following specialization branches:

- Metals and alloys physics

- Applied Chemistry
 
- Applied Geology
 
- Water Geology
 
- Geophysics
 
- Biotechnology
 
- Aquaculture Biology

And the Faculty Council may – based on the proposal of the department councils – and with the approval of the University Council, create diplomas in other specializations according to the needs of the community and in line with the global scientific development.
Enrollment Conditions for a master’s degree
- The student must have a bachelor’s degree in science, a single specialty or a double specialty from an Egyptian university, or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized by the university, and his general grade is not less than good, and his grade in the subject of specialization is not less than good, in addition to fulfilling the othe scientific conditions set by the relevant department.
 - The period required to obtain a master’s degree in science is at least two years since the student’s registration for the degree. It is divided into two phases. The first is the enrollment phase (preparatory year) and the second is the registration phase (laboratory or field study). The student does not move from the enrollment stage to the registration stage until he successfully passes the preliminary year exams. It is required that the student be a full-time student, and the Faculty Council may, based on the proposal of the concerned department council, exempt the student from this condition. Enrollment for a master’s degree takes place during the month of October of each year.
 - In each department, discussion seminars are held for two theoretical hours of postgraduate studies per week throughout the year. They are registered on the study schedules, and additional hours are considered outside the quorum. All Academic staff of the department participate in them, in order to discuss and follow up on the ongoing research in the department in the various fields of specialization for master’s theses. Master’s students participate by speaking or by attending Discussion seminars The student is required to attend at least 75% of the discussion sessions annually approved by the department.
 - To follow up the theoretical, scientific and training studies organized by the faculty Council based on the proposal of the concerned department council for at least one academic year, in accordance with what is indicated in Article No. (33) of the regulations.
 - To successfully pass the examinations of the courses that followed during the preliminary year.
 - the student conduct research on a subject approved by the Faculty Council based on the proposal of the concerned department council.
 - The student should continue, during the enrollment and registration periods, to prepare topics and attend research discussions (research halls) in his field of study, for two hours per week at division level, under the supervision of the supervisory committee for his thesis.
 
Conditions for enrollment and registration for a Ph.D
- The student must have a master’s degree in science from an Egyptian university or an equivalent degree from another scientific institute recognized by the university.
 - To conduct innovative research on a subject approved by the Faculty Council based on the proposal of the concerned department council for two years at least from the date of approval of the faculty Council to register the research subject
 - During the registration period, the student should continue preparing topics and attending research discussions (research halls) in his field of study, at a rate of two hours per week at the division level, under the supervision of the supervisory committee for his thesis.
 - To present the results of his research in a letter accepted by the judgment committee
 - The Faculty Council, based on the proposal of the concerned department council, and in special cases required by the nature of the research, may allow students registered for a master’s degree to prepare for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in science directly, provided that they successfully perform the examinations in the introductory year courses for the master’s degree, and the registration period is not less than four years.
