Mission
The Faculty of Science, Aswan University is committed to keep pace with all developments in the various fields of science and qualifying the components of the educational process from study programs, infrastructure, technological and human infrastructure in order to achieve its vision that it aspires to, while being keen to be a sufficient and adequate house of expertise to meet the needs of society in a desire to develop it and serve the industrial society and achieve its renaissance to serve the homeland.
Faculty Admission Requirements
Admission to the faculty requires a high school certificate in science or mathematics divisions, or the science division if they are combined, or equivalent. Admission is through the coordination office according to the Faculty’s needs each year. The student joins one of the general divisions in the first year, which are:

Regulation of credit hours in Faculty of Science_ Aswan University for the academic year 2024/2025

(A) The study at Faculty of Science, Aswan University, is based on the credit hour system. Aswan University grants the Bachelor’s Degree in Science (B.Sc.) based on the request of Faculty of Science Council in one of the following programs:
- Single Major: A program in which all credit hours are dedicated to a single scientific discipline.
- Double Major: A program in which 50% of the credit hours are dedicated to one discipline and 50% to another discipline.
It is also possible to offer a Major-Minor program, where the major discipline accounts for approximately 75% of the credit hours and the minor discipline accounts for 25% of the credit hours.
(B) The student will be awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in one of the programs mentioned in Section (3) after completing a number of courses equivalent to 136 credit hours.
Duration of Study and Levels
The duration of study for obtaining a Bachelor’s degree at Faculty of Science is four academic years or until the student successfully completes the required credit hours for graduation (136 credit hours). This period is divided into four academic levels, and the levels are determined by the number of credit hours successfully completed by the student as follows:
- Level 1 (Freshman): From 0 to 30 credit hours
- Level 2 (Sophomore): From 31 to 64 credit hours
- Level 3 (Junior): From 65 to 100 credit hours
- Level 4 (Senior): From 101 to 136 credit hours
Each level includes two compulsory semesters separated by a mid-year break. The semesters are called the first semester (autumn) and the second semester (Spring), each lasting seventeen weeks.
A third intensive summer semester may also be offered for eight weeks.

First: Department of Physics
- Program in New and Renewable Energy.
Second: Department of Chemistry
- Program in Biochemistry.
Third: Department of Botany
- Program in Microbiology and Chemistry.
Fourth: Department of Zoology
- Program in Molecular Biotechnology.
Admission to these programs is available from the first year based on the student’s preference and requires a minimum of five students to start the program. The admission requirements for these programs are the same as the general admission requirements of the faculty as mentioned in Section (4). When transferring from a general program to a specialized program, the student will join from the first level. The fees for the specialized programs will be determined by the Faculty Council after the approval of the relevant council.
