Aswan University President participates in the training program events of Supreme Council of Universities’ members

Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed_ Aswan University President_ participated in the training program events for members of Supreme Council of Universities, in attendance of Dr. Khaled Abdel Gaffer_ Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research which was organized by the National Academy for Training from 11 to 15 March, with participation of a number of university presidents.

The minister confirmed the importance of the pivotal role that the National Training Academy plays in qualifying young people and refining their skills, pointing to the necessity for cooperation between it and universities through holding a joint cooperation protocol and exchange of experiences in the fields of training and capacity development.

Abdel- Ghaffar added that the training programs are the fundamental nucleus in the desired development process, directing the necessity to activate such programs in universities to promote researchers, Academic staff and all members of the academic community, and qualify them through various training programs, explaining that such programs aim to develop different skills, in light of That the learning process is continuous, and does not stop at a certain age or limit.

Prof. Ahmed Ghalleb-Aswan university President, indicated that the program aims to increase capacity and skills development in line with state’s vision in training, to be able to achieve strong and effective participation to fulfill comprehensive development in society and Egypt Vision 2030.

University Center for Career Development at Aswan University announces the first virtual employment platform for 2021

Aswan University president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed declared that in frame of training students and working to refine their talents and linking them to the labor market and its needs, the University Center for Career Development at Aswan University announces launching the first virtual employment platform for 2021 under patronage of Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Dr. Khaled Abdel-Ghaffar, and in cooperation with nine presidents of other universities.

 Aswan University president Prof. Ahmed Ghallab added that this new platform will allow employers to offer job and training opportunities throughout the year. This platform will also provide students with the opportunity to constantly communicate with companies and employers and presenting CVs to conduct personal interviews, as well as attending many events and seminars on career counseling. The platform will launch its first events entitled “UCCD March Career Expo” on Monday 22nd March 2021. This is the second forum of its kind where the first virtual forum held in September 2020 achieved great success in attendance of a group of employers and about 4000 students and graduates from Ten Egyptian universities in nine governorates, from Aswan to Alexandria.

Prof. Ahmed Ghallab indicated that this initiative has reached 15 centers so far in ten government universities, which were established in cooperation with the United States Agency for International Development and technical support from the American University in Cairo to work on bridging the gap between university education and the needs of labor market and industry, By providing free Vocational guidance and training to various students and graduates.

 Prof. Ahmed Ghallab confirmed the importance of launching this permanent employment platform as part of our constant endeavor to serve students and graduates.

This virtual employment platform is a dynamic three-dimensional platform that supports employers to be free from traditional employment processes and enables employers and job seekers to communicate virtually in a manner similar to direct and realistic dealing. The platform provides opportunities to connect and access to the best distinguished young Egyptian cadres, through which employers meet university students and graduates in a virtual environment and use chat rooms, teleconferencing, webcasts, webinars or email to exchange information about available jobs.

Aswan University President Praises Egyptian-Portuguese cultural relations historically

Aswan University President Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed declared that in frame of close cooperation between Aswan University and Portuguese universities, today Aswan University participated in a symposium on cultural relations between Egypt and Portugal in the Supreme Council of Culture which organized by the Supreme Council for Culture, in cooperation with the External Cultural Relations Sector, as part of  “cultural relations” initiative, during it the Egyptian-Portuguese relations were celebrated.

Aswan University president Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab added that the session was conducted by Dr/ Hisham Azmi_ General Secretary of the Supreme Council of Culture, who emphasized the joint cooperation between Portugal and Egypt in all levels and fields.

Ambassador/ Manuela Franco_ Ambassador of Portugal in Cairo_ mentioned the history of diplomatic relations between Egypt and Portugal, periods of contact (since 1942) and periods of interruption (1960s for Nasser’s role in supporting African independence movements in Angola and Mozambique) and the current close relations.

Meanwhile, Ambassador/ Adel El-Alfi_ the Egyptian ambassador in Portugal, presented a report on the recent achievements of the Egyptian-Portuguese relations, the reciprocal government visits between the two parties and the importance of signing cooperation protocols in all fields, especially his confirmation that the Egyptian-Portuguese relations witnessed a strong momentum after the exchange of presidential visits for the first time in history of relations between the two countries, when President/ El-Sisi visited Portugal in 2016 and Portuguese President. Marcelo de Sousa visited Egypt in 2018. Ambassador/ Adel El-Alfy praised the cooperation that Egypt is witnessing in the field of teaching Portuguese language, referring to the visit of Prof/ Ahmed Ghallab Mohamed_ Aswan University President, and Dr. Majed Al-Jibali, President of Department of Portuguese Language in Aswan in 2019.

Dr. Katrina Bello_ Professor of Islamic Philosophy at the American University_ referred to the Islamic history of Portugal and the exchange of Portuguese scholars with the American University in Cairo.

 Dr. Majed Al-Jibali – Head of Portuguese Language Department at Aswan University reviewed the geopolitical position of the Portuguese language and the possible aspects of cooperation between the Egyptian and Portuguese cultural institutions, and gave an overview of the stages of adding the Portuguese language and its literature in Egyptian universities, starting with adding it as a second language in Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University during the Deanship of Prof. Makarem Al-Ghamry and passing through creating the first BA in Portuguese Language and Literature at Aswan University in 2015 until the graduation of three batches, and transfering the experience to Al-Azhar University and the last celebration in 2019 with the opening of the Portuguese Language Department at Faculty of Al-Alsun at Ain Shams University.

In response to the question of a number of journalists about the Portuguese interest in the Arabic language, Dr/ Majid Al-Jibali explained that Arab features are present in Portugal and the names of its cities, especially in the south, in Ojarvi region. The name of place means west as a reference of western Andalusia and the city of Ciovice, the ruins of an integrated Arab-Andalusian city.
