Achievements of the research unit for the study of tropical plants 2018\/2019<\/span><\/p>\n

First: Research Activities:<\/span><\/p>\n

To achieve the goals of conducting research and studies in the fields related to the plants of tropical regions and assisting the scientific activity (postgraduate studies and research) for the faculty and university, as well as serving the local community through the applications of research results related to the study of tropical plants and their extracts and medical effects, and studies of cell biology and molecular biology and its statement as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

Ecophysiology lab:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

  • PhD Thesis (completed in 2019): Dr. Abeer Hassan Ali (lecturer in Botany Department)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Title: Study of desert Plant-fungal interactions in arid ecosystem<\/span><\/p>\n

    The work will be as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1-Master Thesis: Researcher\/ Sundusa Nabil Mohamed (lecturer in Botany Department)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Title: Evaluation of the effect of Rhizobium sp. isolated from leguminous plants in promoting the physiological processes in both leguminous and non-leguminous crops under extreme environmental conditions.<\/span><\/p>\n

    2-Master’s Thesis: Researcher\/ Esraa Khaled Abo El-Qasim Mohamed (from abroad)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Title: Eco-physiological study on some desert plants under salinity stress<\/span><\/p>\n

    Biotechnology Lab (1)<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

    The work is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1-Master’s Thesis: Researcher\/ Islam Refaat Mohamed (Lecturer in Department of Zoology)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Title: Morphological identification and molecular characterization of rats helminthic fauna in Aswan, Egypt<\/span><\/p>\n

    2-The lab is equipped with a diversified egg incubator<\/span><\/p>\n

    Biotechnology Lab (2)<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

    The work is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

    • Master’s Thesis: Researcher\/ Dina Abdel-Rahim Al-Amir Abd Allah (from abroad)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Title: phytochemical studies on Senecio glaucus coronopifolius<\/span><\/p>\n

      The eastern quarter of the greenhouse (4) + 4 open planting basins with a total area of \u200b\u200b100 square meters<\/span><\/p>\n

      The work is as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

      Master’s Thesis: Researcher\/ Zainab Jaber Ahmed (Lecturer in Botany Department)<\/span><\/p>\n

      Title: Morphological and physiological attributes of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) breeding cultivars in relation to yield and environmental stress tolerance.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Second: The unit is equipped with equipment and machines to ensure the progress of work and achieving the unit’s objectives, as follows:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. A stabilizer for voltage and current with a capacity of 20 kilowatts, equipped with the feature of automatically arranging the metal in the event of their reversal from outside the building, to protect the accurate measuring devices and electrical equipment.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Soil Mixer capacity of 140 liters to be used in mixing the soil to ensure the mixing of its components.<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Hoe with (2 horsepower) and training daily laborers to use them in cleaning weeds in greenhouses and open fields in the unit.<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Plow with (11 horsepower) and training daily labor to use it in the work of plowing the soil in greenhouses and uncovered cultivation in the unit.<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Installing an electric chopper with a capacity of 10 horsepower, and training the daily workers to use it in the recycling of tree and garden waste to produce compost.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Shoulder-held harvester and Petrol-fuelled, and daily laborers were trained to use it in forming fences and getting rid of weeds and linen.<\/span><\/li>\n
      7. Electric tree scissors, and the daily workers were trained to use them in tree pruning.<\/span><\/li>\n
      8. Electric lawn mower.<\/span><\/li>\n
      9. Petrol-fuelled pesticide sprayer, and daily workers were trained to use it in disinfection and pest resistance works.<\/span><\/li>\n
      10. (2) Hozrel (1inch hose) with a length of 30 meters and 4 dry powder fire extinguishers (6 kg). The daily employment was trained to use it in the work of protecting the unit from the dangers of fires.<\/span><\/li>\n
      11. Connecting the Internet 20 points + WiFi to support researchers and operate advanced devices in the research laboratories of the unit.<\/span><\/li>\n
      12. A meteorological station equipped with a data collector (and a battery charged with solar energy) to record temperatures, relative humidity, wind speed and direction, atmospheric pressure, sun brightness and \u2026 to serve the research objective in the unit.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        \u00a0Third: Infrastructure development activities and periodic maintenance:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

          \n
        1. Developing the canopy attached to the administrative building of the research unit with an area of \u200b\u200b100 square meters by completing the canopy structure and covering it with fiberglass (an engineering technical report is attached).<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. The back of the unit parallel to the filter with an area of \u200b\u200b500 square meters was cleaned by removing Arundo, Calotropis procera,bulrush tamarisk and spraying herbicide to avoid fire hazards.<\/span><\/li>\n
        3. Regular maintenance of irrigation systems of all kinds<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          \u00a0Fourth: Activities of using the latest technologies and agricultural methods in the process of producing some strains of plants that are resistant to difficult climatic conditions and have a high economic return:<\/u><\/span><\/p>\n

            \n
          1. Planting seedlings of bush and sedge that is resistant to drought and pests, in preparation for its use as a medicinal plant with an economic return and as an ornamental plant.<\/span><\/li>\n
          2. The seeds of the jojoba plant that are resistant to drought, salinity and pests were obtained from a reliable source, and they are trees with high economic returns (seedlings – productive trees), which is the best image of integration between agriculture, scientific research and industry.<\/span><\/li>\n
          3. Preparing Greenhouses of “1, 2, and 3 “, as well as uncovered agriculture, to start planting them with jojoba seedlings.<\/span><\/li>\n
          4. In the greenhouse of (4), a research study is being conducted for graduate students in the field of genetics and plant breeding in cooperation with the faculty of Agriculture and Natural Resources.<\/span><\/li>\n
          5. Using the shredder for recycling tree and garden waste to produce compost and in conducting a research study for postgraduate students on cane and palm waste in the field of fodder production.<\/span><\/li>\n
          6. Aerial laying of Conocarpus trees is also carried out in the fence surrounding the research unit to produce seedlings for the university’s supply.<\/span><\/li>\n
          7. Cultivation of seedlings of rare and endangered plants of various types of acacia and lalope trees.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
